Computer Forensics- Digital Photography
Digital photography
File Formats
JPG- compressed, as such has loss of quality and data
JPEG- trade-off between level of compression and size and quality
Tif- Flexible, adaptable file format for handling images and data. Includes things such as header tags, size and definition
Exif- record of what camera settings were used to take a photo (think where this could be useful!)
Each photo has its own exif data
One method of showing information is tone compression, which will involve the combination of multiple images to use the full dynamic range of tone
However; this is highly controversial in court. You will also have to use preservation methods.
