What is JPEG Snoop?

A executable which shows Exif data of JPEG photos

What is Exif data?

Metadata about photos, including date, geodata and model

How does it work?

Simply open up the JPEG with the progam!

So this image was taken by an Olympus E-30 and then edited in Adobe Photoshop

But why is this of use?

Scenario: Police have conducted a seizure on a known paedophile. They have confiscated a camera. They have also found obscene images on the computer of the suspect.

Your analysis may show the images came from the camera, and as such would indicate the suspect may be producing child pornography. Alternatively, you may find no link.

No link is still useful however, as every obscene image of a child is real. The EXIF data may not show the suspect took it, however it will may show how it was taken, thus aiding further investigation.
